How DonationOffers.com works

It's simple: those who have something they do not need... offer it to those in need.

This is not a site where a "seller" profits. There are no sellers, just givers and receivers. Givers are offering items for free if they are picked up (they may elect to offer to ship the items and choose who pays the shipping charges).

If you have an item that you expect would be of value to someone else... list it here (for free) and reap the pleasure of helping a complete stranger. With just a little effort you could bring a great deal of joy to others less fortunate. We all know that what goes around comes around...
You can elect to offer it for pickup only, and/or you can offer to ship it (and choose who pays for the shipping).
If you wish, you can restrict your offer to qualified charities that can give you a receipt that you can claim as a deduction on your income tax return (how donating for a tax deduction works).

If you need something but cannot afford it... then browse or search the listings here and perhaps you will find it. Later when you are better able to give, remember the generosity you found here and pass it (and hopefully other items as well) on to others less fortunate; for now, just rejoice that others who do not even know you are willing to help you.

Although this is a worldwide service, international shipment will often not make sense. You can use advanced search to search geographically:

  • If you are willing to pay for shipment of donations but do not want to consider international shipments, restrict your search to offers within your country.
  • If you are interested only in donations that you can pick up you can restrict your search to a particular city, state/province or zip/postal code.
Although the service is based in the US, during the second week of operation we had a donation offered and completed in another country within a few hours (a comment was left about it on the public feedback board).

Children's clothes are an excellent candidate for this service, as they tend to outgrow clothes long before they are worn out. Categories where I expect this service will be particularly useful:

  • clothes, shoes, sneakers, ... (especially for children)
  • toys
  • furniture
  • books (especially textbooks and other educational materials)
  • kittens, puppies, ... (not to be shipped, of course)
  • pet supplies (animal shelters love to get things that your dearly departed pet no longer needs)
  • vehicles donated to charities for the tax deduction (frequently this can work out better than selling an old car, and it's certainly easier)
  • computers and peripherals - others often would love that old PC you were going to toss out, (plus computer components contain lead, mercury, cadmium, chronium and other hazardous materials - it would be great to lessen the amount that finds it's way into our environment)
  • entertainment items such as records, tapes, CDs, videos (I tossed hundreds of LPs last year, someone probably would have been happy to get them)
  • non-working electronics, lawn mowers, bicycles, ... (others handy at fixing things often want them)
  • sports equipment (perhaps you couldn't tolerate those old skis any longer, but someone else could)
  • unwanted gifts
  • food

You get the idea. You can view the details here.
